The branch had offered the 7 claimants the chance to register and participate in the voting but the offer was rejected by the claimants insisting that the case would only be decided by the courts. The Electoral Committee refused to conduct the elections saying it would be wrong to do so since there is an action in court challenging the holding of the election.
While prospective voters numbering about 500 waited for the elections to start, the Electoral Committee was locked up in a meeting with the elders of the branch, led by Chief V. A. Odunaiya for no less than 5 hours.
At the end of the day, the Chairman of the branch, Adebamigbe Omole and the General Secretary, Adesina Ogunlana, commenced the monthly meeting of the branch at about 3.40 p.m where it was disclosed that the elections would not hold until Wednesday the 9th of May 2012 to allow the elders find solution to the suit in court.
On Tuesday 8th May 2012 by 10 a.m, the parties to the suit had amicably resolved the matter and filed terms of settlement which was made the judgement of court.
The elections will now hold today, Wednesday 9th May 2012 between 11 a.m and 4.pm.
